oh well, that does make sense. But i am a normie who installs newer software on windows 98 so like

which yea it was a dos virus so windows 98 would be unaffected but it was interesting to see anyways I guess

i was imaging some floppy disks of unknown source (i found them in someone's recycling) and one of the game disks had some harmless and common DOS virus on it apparently

i used to have that antivirus active on my win98 years ago and it "protected" me ONE TIME
  • UserPenaltiesFri Sep 16, 2022 12:43 pm
also it had some virus utilities... what is the chance of me getting a virus in windows 98?
  • UserPenaltiesFri Sep 16, 2022 12:43 pm
yeah that marble game like what the fuck?
  • dvd3000Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:42 pm
and wow just 25 mb! and whaat, u don't want "picture-it express?" and that weird marble game it comes with?

also i actually get a little bit faster internet at home now, since i got a wired ethernet connection and dont have to use the wifi router that goes "2mbps lol" if you're 10 feet away from it

meanwhile the stupid goddamn windows 98 plus iso is like 500 megabytes or something and includes all of these useless utilities by default
  • UserPenaltiesFri Sep 16, 2022 12:41 pm
but it's still probably faster than archive.org and to much delight the iso was only ~25mb!
  • dvd3000Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:41 pm
    oh
  • UserPenaltiesFri Sep 16, 2022 12:40 pm

  • UserPenaltiesFri Sep 16, 2022 12:39 pm
and yeah that's another thing i noticed, explorer windows will ignore the default application background entirely!!! it's very annoying
  • dvd3000Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:39 pm

  • UserPenaltiesFri Sep 16, 2022 12:39 pm

which really doesnt play nice with the ie shell tho, with that giant annoying folder thing on the left side of explorer windows blinding me with annoying white on dark blue contrast against my custom theme
  • UserPenaltiesFri Sep 16, 2022 12:38 pm
i should just get Windows 98 to work on windows 7 and be done with it instead of changing the themes out of boredom

it's really cool that Windows 7 with the classic theme can almost completely work with these older themes
